Soap Opera?
Did you know that Mr. Turnip has made an appearance in a "television soap" - literally? A soap bar modelled after Mr. Turnip was produced by Genatosan Ltd. (of Loughborough, Leics.) sometime in the 1950's or 1960's under the banner Presenting... Mr. Turnip, Television Favourite. It is also a true television soap in the sense that the box front resembles an old television set, in which Mr. Turnip's grinning face appears through the cellophane "tv-screen". Truly a funny piece of early tv memorabilia, and sweet-scenting too!
